Mike Nichols Dips in 'Deep Water'
Will it be this or the 'High and Low' remake next?
Variety is reporting Mike Nichols has been attached to direct Deep Water, an adaptation of the 1957 Patricia Highsmith novel in which a couple in a loveless marriage hang on through an arrangement whereby the husband permits the wife to take lovers. Suspense builds as those lovers begin dying.
Fox 2000 is aboard to distribute with Joe Penhall penning the screenplay. Penhall last adapted Cormac McCarthy's "The Road", which will be released in theaters on October 16. For Nichols this is one of two projects the director has been attached to in the last year after being attached to a remake of Akira Kurosawa's High and Low with a script by David Mamet for Miramax Films. There is no word on which one will make for the director's next project.
And since this news is limited to only the smallest amount of real information I give you a couple of clips from two great Nichols pictures. Enjoy.
