Go Snail! Go! Watch a New 'Turbo' Trailer

I have a feeling Turbo is going to be huge when it hits theaters on July 17. Right now Monsters University and Despicable Me 2 will fight it out for animated sequel supremacy while Dreamworks' new kid on the block may race in (pun intended) and score the box office checkered flag (no pun intended).

Over the past few weeks, as marketing for the animated racing snail movie has ramped up, I've seen several people arriving at the site after searching for the trailer for the "animated snail movie", which seems to be a frequent search term. While it may be the third film in a line of big animated features, it's the only original film of the lot, and if it's any good it has a couple of weeks to make some dough before The Smurfs 2 (again, another sequel) wraps up the month.

Oh, and it has Snoop Dogg (Lion?) in it. Yeah, this is Snoop's new gig when he isn't recording reggae tunes with Eddie Murphy.

I say all of this because a new Turbo trailer has arrived. Give it a watch below and let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Turbo is a snail who dreams of being the greatest racer in the world, just like his hero, 5-time Indianapolis 500 champ, Guy Gagne. His obsession with speed and all things fast has made him an oddity and outsider in the slow and cautious snail community, and a constant embarrassment to his careful older brother, Chet. Turbo desperately wishes he could escape the slow-paced life he’s living. As luck would have it, he gets that chance one fateful day after a freak accident when he suddenly finds himself vested with the power of incredible speed. Turbo embarks on an extraordinary journey to achieve the impossible: racing against the best that IndyCar has to offer. Turbo is the ultimate underdog who achieves the impossible by refusing to let his limitations get in the way of his dreams.

Is it just me or are Brad's taglines getting snarkier every day? This summer of sub-average films must really be wearing on him.
    (and I love it)

I hope Elysium's good since Brad needs to be at full strength when Oscar season begins

Seeing the trailers for this makes me feel like I know exactly how this movie's plot is going to work. Looks forgettable and just an attempt on selling toys like Cars.

Is the Ken Jeong as the Old Woman? Because that's really messed up if it is?!?

      I think so.

After Epic, the underwhelming Despicable Me 2, the disappointing Monster's University and the CERTAIN TO BE TERRIBLE Smurfs 2, i think it's fair to say that my enthusiasm for Turbo and any other animated films this year is minimal.

Unless Frozen turns out good of course.

I'm just not feeling Turbo. It reminds me too much of Ratatouille personally.

Ratatouille? I think you've got your Pixar films messed up there.

Both movies involve an animal character (Rat, Snail) that dreams of doing something human related (Cooking, Racing).

I mean, both movies even have a brother character for the main character to talk to and a human partner/friend to help them succeed in their dreams. The only thing missing from Turbo is a disapproving Father.

I'm 100% sure they will be a hesitant parent in there somewhere.
