New Trailer and Poster for Nic Cage's Delayed 'Season of the Witch'
The date has changed but the 'Season' remains the same
Back on October 22, 2009 we thought Nicolas Cage's Season of the Witch would arrive in theaters on March 19, 2010 and yet that date has long passed as it changed hands from Lionsgate to Relativity Media who moved the film to January 7, 2011. Really bodes well for the film's quality eh?
Anyway, now the marketing machine is revving again as Apple has released a new trailer and Fandango delivers a new poster.
The film is described as a supernatural action adventure about a heroic Crusader and his closest friend who return home after decades of fierce fighting, only to find their world destroyed by the Plague. The church elders, convinced that a girl accused of being a witch is responsible for the devastation, command the two to transport the strange girl to a remote monastery where monks will perform an ancient ritual to rid the land of her curse. They embark on a harrowing, action-filled journey that will test their strength and courage as they discover the girl's dark secret and find themselves battling a terrifyingly powerful force that will determine the fate of the world.
It could be a mild bit of passing entertainment, but when a studio shuffles films around like this it's rarely a good sign. Not to mention I'm hardly a fan of Nic Cage, which reminds me… did you take a peek at him on set of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance? Yeah, that's happening too! If you missed that bit of "excellence" and can muster up any interest click here.

this will be awful, I think
Another film with Nic Cage with ridiculous hair…what's up with that? Is his real hair so bad that they have to make it look stupid?
I remember seeing this trailer last year when I saw Brothers. This movie has been on the shelf for so long.
I can't actually believe 'Nicholas Cage' and 'quality' actually appeared in proximity.
Of course it'll be awful. Let's be honest, drivel is all the he makes these days. Sometimes it's entertaining enough and a hit, sometimes not. But he has no concept of quality and he hasn't for over a decade.
Still, he probably gets a good paycheck for them.
WRONG! In the last decade he's done Adaptation, Matchstick Men, Lord of War, Weather Man, hell, even last year's Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans. They all prove Nic hasn't lost any of his incredible talent. Sure he does more terrible big movies (and I do agree that some of them are absolutely terrible) than just about anyone else, but it's ridiculous to write him off completely as a has-been at this point.
Actually – putting that in CAPITAL LETTERS really doesn't establish it.
I'm actually fine with my opinion of him anyway.
It looks like they toned down the horror element and are going for a more adventure oriented film, which doesnt feel right for me…I just hate it when studios feel the need to re-shoot a film, and change its premise in order for it to feet a formula they think will be the successful…The movie looked fine before the reshoots, and i bet that its gonna come out looking like a mess since they decided to totally alter the films tone and focus…Bad move Lionsgate
This is retarded Christian dooms-day horror at its finest. Millions of people were murdered during the witch hunts of the middle ages, and this is just glorifying it.
Lionsgate dumped this early in the year, thats why we havent heard of it till now, Relativity Media/Rogue picked it up for distribution.
