Natalie Portman Gets Dressed Up for New 'Thor 2: The Dark World' Poster

A new poster for Thor: The Dark World (11/8) has premiered and it features all the cast principles including Natalie Portman all decked out in Asgardian garb. There hasn't been much talk about this film as it seems to be the one character franchise in the Avengers troupe that most people dislike, but personally I think Thor holds up better than all the other Avengers films as it's so goofy it's easier to take seriously in such a goofy world and it looks like this next one will continue the trend.

I just have to wonder, how does Thor (Chris Hemsworth) do it? How does a god from another realm convince an Earth girl to travel with him across space and time to a foreign land and convince her she would be best off wearing a metal bustier and shoulder pads? I love it!

And look in the background there, everyone all snarling and sneering and Anthony Hopkins all, "Have you seen my other eye?" Classic A. Hops!

Thor: The Dark World : Payoff Poster

Marvel's Thor: The Dark World continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's Thor and The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan SkarsgÄrd, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano and Jaimie Alexander with Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins as Odin, Thor: The Dark World is directed by Alan Taylor, produced by Kevin Feige, from a story by Don Payne (credit not final) and screenplay by Christopher Yost and Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (credit not final) and is based on Marvel's classic Super Hero Thor, who first appeared in the comic book "Journey into Mystery" #83 in August, 1962.

Thor: The Dark World is presented by Marvel Studios. The executive producers are Louis D'Esposito, Alan Fine, Stan Lee, Victoria Alonso, Craig Kyle and Nigel Gostelow. The film releases November 8, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

I'm liking it. However, I'm not as excited for this one as I am Captain America: The Winter Soldier or Guardians of the Galaxy.

For me it's GotG, Dark World, Smurfs 2 and then Winter Soldier haha. What's the betting though the Cap sequel will be the best of the bunch?

      • Silrian

Winter Soldier looks like it could truly be a gritty action thriller, and I've heard multiple people saying it's the most DC/Nolan-esque film Marvel has made so far. It also, imo, has the best cast of all the phase 2 films, even though I'm not overly keen on Evans as Cap himself. The first Cap movie let me down in losing any edge it could've had in the second part. Maybe this one won't?

So yeah, as someone not exactly the biggest fan of Marvel's so called lighthearted approach, I'm definitely curious to see Winter Soldier most.

This is almost as bad as the iron man 3 over populous of characters. Speaking of, I miss that kitchen sink on that poster...

  • Hudsucker

I've always wondered why the black guy has to be the gatekeeper and never comes to the parties?

  • Vince O.

It's like that Iron Man 3 poster all over again. Wish they had gone the Smurfs 2 route & just had Thor throwing up the peace sign to indicate that this is actually a sequel (not really).

Not super interested in TDW but it should be fun. Way more interested in Winter Soldier (because I loved Captain America) and Guardians (because I have no idea what the hell that movie even is).

  • andyluvsfilms

Im hoping this is gonna be mainly Asgard based, thats what i loved most about the first movie. As to your Natalie Portman question Brad, she's sick of dating all the local Gods.

  • Silrian

That Chris Hemsworth has no appeal to me whatsoever. I don't know any other role of his, but Thor comes across so flat and unconvincing to me. It's barely a-level acting, if at all.

In terms of acting he's easily the weakest Marvel lead imo.

  • Ryguy815

It's pretty much the exact same as the Iron Man 3 poster. I like this poster a little more than the Iron Man poster though. As for the quality of the movie..I really don't think Thor will be as good as Iron Man 3 was.

  • SmartFilm

Brad, I was hoping you'd superimpose a washing machine into this one.

  • JN Films

This poster makes Loki look like a petty

  • Josh McLaughlin

Man, Natalie Portman looks bored in that crowded, Photoshopped poster.
