New 'Shrek Forever After' Trailer Relies on Donkey and Kitty Porn for Laughs
So this is what it's come to eh?

Yahoo has just debuted the first theatrical trailer for Shrek Forever After, and it pretty much sums up the reasons why Pixar has managed to stay on top and Dreamworks has suffered a series of disappointments in their CGI-animated feature. Where Pixar relies on story, Dreamworks concentrates on potty humor and pop culture references. Of course, it hasn't been a huge issue for Dreamworks Animation as their films are still doing well at the box-office, but anybody concerned with quality knows which direction to look as the final moments of this new trailer for the final installment in the Shrek franchise proves which animated house hasn't completely sold out.
Shrek Forever After is set for release on May 21 and finds Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) as a domesticated family man who now agrees to autograph pitch forks and longing for the days when he felt like a "real ogre," until a shady deal with Rumpelstiltskin sends him into a twisted, alternate version of Far Far Away, where ogres are hunted, Rumpelstiltskin is king and Shrek and Fiona have never met. Oh my!

The first two Shrek movies were awesome, and then Shrek the Third was just dreadful. I wish Dreamworks would return to form with their last installment of the series, but I just don't see it happening with the bar set so low.
I'm wondering how much cultural relevance Shrek still has. The last two films, which were not by any means good (I never even saw the third one) still made obscene amounts of cash ($400 million-plus, and $320 million). With the 3D dollars, you'd think this could easily hit $400 million, and have a shot at being the #1 film of the year, but I'm not sure they'll still be able to deliver those kind of numbers. Or maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part that people have moved away from this drivel, because I agree, it does look awful.
I actually dug the second flick, as did most of the people I know who saw it (but it's an inferior film to the first one, for sure). The third one was one of the worst, most disappointing sequels in a long time. "Spider-Man 3" was at least 3x as entertaining as that movie.
I think people were so burned by the last movie that this one likely won't do all that well. Kids movies like this one will still rake in some dough, but the audience isn't growing, its shrinking. If "Night at the Museum 2" can't make what the first film did, and if "Alvin & the Chipmunks 2" could only barely surpass the gross of the first film, what chance does the fourth installment in a diminishing series have?
It's over for the Shrek series (story-wise), but if they make tons of cash with this movie, trust me, it will not stop here. Gosh….

The first Shrek movie was actually good, but since then they are turning more and more into spoofing other movies and pop culture. It might as well bed called A Spoof Movie. Regardless of its quality, this movie is going to bank because the Shrek brand is so profitable. It's sad really when 2 poor movies after a good one and people are still coming out in droves to pay to see this.
WHAT ARE ALL OF YOU TALKING ABOUT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
This looks very funny and entertaining. I can't wait to see it! And this movie
is for kids… just remember that. So, the movie is targeted to kids that you adults.
So- stop being so negative. This isn't supposed to a masterpiece its supposed to
entertain kids. And with 3D showings this one will definetly get to 400 mil. So stop
looking for an adult movie- this is a kids movie so lay off.
Uh uh… donkey ain't licking the KITTY…
Donkey's licking the pussy.
Haha. Hahahaha? Get it? NOW it's funny! Ay de mi, won't the adults all laugh and appreciate all the in-jokes while the kids snort and giggle at the stupid slapstick! What a winning (supposedly) final chapter in the Shrek series.
Brad, why all the hate for dreamworks animated films? Sure some of them are not winners but i would never say their films rely on potty humor. Kung Fu Panda has to be one of the best CGI-animated films ever, and if it wasn't for politics in the Oscars it would have beaten Wall-E (which sucked by the way). I love when when they put humor that only adults will get in kids films. The Shrek films do a great job of this, and yes some of them are potty humor as you say but kids don't get it. They put stuff like that in so parents like myself dont go nuts watching kids films. I would give them credit rather then bash them.
Kung Fu Panda is arguably the better "animated film/cartoon" but Wall-E is head and shoulders the better "film"
Only people incapable of seeing past their own noses and with an utter lack of cognitive ability is Wall-E a horrible film.
Kung Fu Panda got exactly what it deserved, that being an Oscar nomination and nothing else (Well, except for a shady sweep of the Annies). Wall-E was the top animation of 2008 and personally, none of 2009's bumper crop of great animated hits can hang with it too.
i liked it
I have ZERO interest in seeing this. I loved the original when it came out (even that has aged now, due to the tired pop culture references), I merely liked the second one, and the third one is just terrible. On the other hand, I'm very excited for Toy Story 3. I find both Toy Story movies better than any of the Shrek movies, and I'm much happier with the direction Pixar seems to be taking Toy Story. Both of those films have aged very well. Pixar in general is better, with just about all of their movies.
I don't see that it's much different than the rest. I went to the theatre for the first, but have watched the others on DVD, which I see me doing with this one too. It looks funny. Pixar and Dreamworks go at things differently, so what. Different is good.
Looks better then the third!
