New Line Marks 'Valentine's Day' Down for Roberts, Hathaway, Alba, Biel and More
Give the ladies more of that group lovin'
Michael Cieply at the New York Times has posted an ambiguous article that seems to confirm the existence of a huge upcoming ensemble romantic comedy for next Valentine's Day all while remaining a little unclear as to whether or not it will ever get made.
The film is titled Valentine's Day and apparently Garry Marshall (Pretty Woman) is the director of choice with names such as Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel and Shirley MacLaine all negotiating to appear. Marshall is also quoted saying, "There are some boys in it, too." The only fellas listed are Bradley Cooper and Ashton Kutcher. The plot has something to do with five slightly interconnecting stories playing out during a Valentine's Day in Los Angeles.
The "Times" article doesn't include a ton of information, but THR says Katherine Fugate wrote the initial draft, while Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein penned the latest.
The Hollywood Reporter adds more to the story saying major roles are still to be cast including the gay football player, MacLaine's husband, the mailroom worker, a talent agent and a young boy looking to give his crush some flowers.
Also here is a quick breakdown of some of the other roles:
- Roberts is an army officer on leave from Iraq on a flight to L.A. Cooper, on the same flight, is a gay man whose lover is a closeted football player.
- Kutcher is an owner of a flower shop who proposes to his girlfriend (Alba), only to realize he is in love with his close friend, played by Garner, who discovers her boyfriend is married.
- MacLaine plays Roberts' mother, a happy retiree who reveals to her husband a long-ago affair.
- Hathaway is an assistant working at the biggest talent agency in town and dating a mailroom assistant; Biel is a publicist unlucky in love (is there any other kind?) who has no date on Valentine's Day.
The move is obviously due to the $94 million this year's He's Just Not that into You made after its February 6 release. Right now February 5 only belongs to the Joss Whedon co-written thriller The Cabin in the Woods and on February 12 is the Fox fantasy Percy Jackson.

I'm sure I'll be getting dragged to this one by the lady but as a dude I do have to respect any film that gets Hathaway, Alba and Biel on one screen. That alone might be enough to keep me interested.
kutcher ,alba this is some toxic waste . Ashton doesnt get it he acts like forest gump and alba i am emarrassed for her anytime i see her try to act it's painful to watch . biel this is the worst group of actors coming together including roberts. bradly cooper and shirly i have some respect for i hope this doesn't happen just add zac efron this is some boy band crap i will never see!!!
