New 'Les Miserables' Posters Reveal Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter

COMMENTS

Heart full of love

Two new posters for Les Miserables have arrived, the first featuring Sacha Baron Cohen as Thenardier and Helena Bonham Carter as Madame Thenardier and the second featuring Amanda Seyfried as Cosette and Eddie Redmayne as Marius.

Les Miserables along with Django Unchained and Zero Dark Thirty remains one of the few potential Oscar powerhouse films yet to be seen by the critical masses and one that's expected to make a rather large splash once it does.

Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Miserables tells an enthralling story of broken dreams and unrequited love, passion, sacrifice and redemption–a timeless testament to the survival of the human spirit. Hugh Jackman plays ex-prisoner Valjean, hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Russell Crowe) after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Anne Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.

The film is set to hit theaters on Christmas Day. You can check out the two new posters below.

A couple of trailers have already been released. Before Skyfall on iMAX last week they showed a new trailer which i have yet to see online featuring both Baron Cohen and Bonham Carter.

I know it sounds like a silly thing to judge but these posters, particularly the one of Cohen and Carter, instantly made me doubt my feeling that this movie will sweep the Oscars. It looks so terrible and Burton-esque that it doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the marketing they've released so far.

  2. Fox says:

I understand that the characters of Thenardier and Mme Thenardier are supposed to be weird/eccentric etc., but it depresses me that I'm going to have to sit through another painfully overacted performance by Helena Bonham Carter. Still excited for this one though…
