New 'Iron Man 3' Poster and Super Bowl Trailer Teaser

Iron Man is going down in flames

Walt Disney Pictures is putting on the full court press when it comes to the films they'll be previewing during this weekend's Super Bowl. Already we have teasers for the trailers that will be shown that day, including brief looks at The Lone Ranger and Oz the Great and Powerful, and now comes a new look at Iron Man 3 along with a brand new poster.

Iron Man 3 was written and directed by Shane Black and pits Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Ben Kingsley in Iron Man 3Downey recently spoke with EW about the film and when asked about Ben Kingsley's role as the film's chief villain, the Mandarin, he said, "Sir Ben is probably going to steal the movie. There are a lot of contenders who may, but right now he's probably at the top of that list. He came in as, obviously – speaking of training – as such a technically proficient instrument. And then what proceeded to happen was the release of more vintage, old-school Favreau [improv] stuff with a Shane Black twist on it. It was kind of frightening to witness, I'll tell you that much."

Along with Downey and Kingsley, the film co-stars Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine, Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, Guy Pearce as Aldrich Killian, Rebecca Hall as Maya Hansen, James Badge Dale as Maya Hansen and William Sadler as Sal Kennedy.

Check out the trailer teaser above and the new poster below. Come Super Bowl Sunday I will have all the trailers that air during the big game for you to check out.

I must say, that was really funny

I really don't see the point in releasing a 15 second teaser for another 30 second teaser.

  • Mr.Jim

The best part is that 15 second trailer probably cost millions to be aired Sunday ah the power of the Superbowl

I must say that this poster has symbolic imagery similar to that of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun and fell from the heavens.

Am I the only one who does really care about Iron Man 3 or the rest of Phase Two? After the Avengers, all of these new films will be placeholders until the real event hits in 2015.

I mean, I know Feige has said that the films will be stand alone adventures but that's part of the problem. After the Avengers, do you want stand alone adventures? Plus, because of the Avengers, I think the audiences expectations when our heroes get in trouble will be "well, why doesn't Tony call on Cap and SHIELD for back up?"

There going to have to do some serious justification for why Tony doesn't call for help in this film. Thor I can understand. He's in another dimension.

I think that will probably be addressed, since as you say it's going to be the obvious question. I'm assuming the film-makers will have realised they will need to account for that since they've been very clear about establishing this is a shared universe.

I don't think there's any reason it will be a problem. In the average action film, one doesn't often wonder why the hero doesn't wait to be backed up by a full SWAT team... Things tend to move quickly enough that you buy them taking on the bad guys alone. James Bond is a government agent... Its not like he's some lone warrior with no one to call on, and yet he almost always is in a last minute struggle on his own (or with the girl) to stop some world-endangering threat.

Considering that the Avengers are spread all over the globe and beyond, there's solid enough reason that they won't all show up to deal with something without a fair amount of warning that they're needed. I'm okay with the idea that War Machine wasn't anywhere near New York when the big fight came in the Avengers, for instance, hence the reason he didn't show up to help.

This movie looks awesome! It's my most anticipated movie of the year and I can't wait to see it!

Iron Man & Iron Man 2 were a one-two punch of brilliant comic-book cinema. Hopefully, Black, Downey, Kingsley & Co. can ensure ol' metal head remains at the top of his game. The early footage looks great; however, I am so sick of this new trend of releasing "teasers" for trailers. Now we have to see "teasers" for teasers? Jesus. I love the era of film that we are living in, but the marketing is starting to grate.

    Thems the facts

That is the worst poster ever!
