News surrounding Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and the Potter franchise in general has really picked up as of late, starting with news earlier this week that the film will be released on July 15, two days earlier than the previously announced July 17 release date. Strangely enough, the new trailer that just debuted actually carries the old date…

Yup, the full theatrical trailer for the film, which you can see directly below or in high-definition at Yahoo, just debuted as well as four new character banners, which are teased above and can be seen in larger versions right here.

Is it just me or was that trailer damn near completely devoid of color? Silver, turquoise, a touch of red and that's about it. There were a few good shots though, including the one below. I have added 14 screen captures from the trailer to our official Half-Blood Prince gallery, click here for those.

Finally, news out of MTV tells Potter fans the epilogue featured at the end of author J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will indeed be included in Part II of the film due out on July 15, 2011 following the November 19, 2010 release of Part I. The catch is, they will use the existing cast using special effects, rather than replacing the actors with older lookalikes.

Looks. Freaking. Perfect. The PG rating won't mean a thing.

    GOD EFFING DAMN IT!!

That epilogue is complete unnecessary! It was unnecessary in the book, and it's doubly unnecessary in the movie! It needs to go! I love Harry Potter as much as the next person (though my favorite book is the 5th), but even my friends who have read the 7th book 10 or 20 times say: "It's like Rowling THREW some sh!t together!" Really, that epilogue at the end of book 7 is worthless, and it'll just be a blister at the end of the film. It was a blister at the end of a perfectly fine novel.

    It looks beautiful.

I love the color palette, the film looks gorgeous!

I differ with JM's point of view on the epilogue of Book 7. I think the readers of the HP series would have been aching to know what happened to Harry et al after the fall of Voldemort. What she wrote was not "thrown together," just brief. It ties up some loose ends and leaves the reader (for the most part) with closure. This is a wise thing to do since people have been following these characters for years; some even since childhood.

Contenderfor Best summer trailer… I think so :D

God, I hope that's Hooper's orchestration of the HP theme for the film. It's excellent.

Huge spoiler in this trailer … but most of the moviegoers will already have read the book before watching the film.

I kind of wish the epilogue wasn't there either. If people wanted to know what happened to Harry they could've just used their imagination.lol I kind of want to rip it out of my book.

Whenever I think about that bloody Epilogue I just want to tear it to shreds. It seems that after all, at the end, the film franchise became dictating it's terms to Rowling (if, maybe only in her mind). When I read the book the second time I just did not turn over the page to read the damn Epilogue. It kind of ruins the whole series for me.

SPOLIERS: These characters are suddenly left completely bland and bleached of color. Frodo also kind of retires in Lord of the Rings but he Tolkien does insult his readers by showing by making him a typical family man. Sure, we would have liked to know what happened to Harry and his friends but did it have to be so frustratingly tacky?

  11. hey itz awesome…
