TriStar Pictures has just released a brand new red band trailer for their upcoming Evil Dead remake, which will be hitting theaters on April 13.

Directed and co-written by Fede Alvarez, Evil Dead retells the story first told back in 1981 by director Sam Raimi and star Bruce Campbell of five friends holed up at a remote cabin where they discover a Book of the Dead, which releases a demonic force, possessing each until only one is left to fight for survival.

The cast is largely made up of unknowns and/or actors known more for their independent, low-budget film work in Shiloh Fernandez (Red Riding Hood), Jane Levy (Fun Size), Jessica Lucas (Cloverfield) and Lou Taylor Pucci (Thumbsucker).

This marks the first time a mere trailer has induced shocked, nervous laughter in me. That. Was. Crazy. I am so excited.

    YES!

Gory... yes. Graphic... yes. But it will be funny like the original? We will have to wait and see, but its going to be hard to top the the classic. It's look might be a problem, just in comparison with the original in that that one was cheesy and low budget.

I don't think they're going the funny route at all... This looks like shock cinema through and through. Though if it brings some genuine and innovative scare/gore, I would be happy. It's best not to compare it to the original.

The original Evil Dead wasn't funny either, at least not intentionally, it had a few funny parts because of the low budget cheesyness that came along with it, but those seem to be more unintentional, but it was intended to be a straight forward horror movie.... Evil Dead 2 on the other amped up the camp and comedy factor along with the horror... I think a lot of people get Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 confused, mainly due to how similar they are... It can be and has been argued that Evil Dead 2 itself is a hybrid of sorts, both being a sequel and a remake (with a bigger budget) of Evil Dead...

I think this new version looks like a good bit of shock horror fun and can't wait to see it.

I'm really excited for this. The Evil Dead is my favorite horror franchise, hopefully this one is good and it brings the franchise back.

Gotta admit...that last part made me cringe...and it takes a lot to make me cringe. I'm sold.

You mean the song ? It's one of the most classic scenes from the original ! I think one could hardly have remade ED without it !

(And YES, I know it was spoken by someone else :P)

You know, I don't think that trailer spoiled enough, I think it needed more spoilers. I wonder if there was a person in the trailer who wasn't possessed or got killed?

Evil Dead without Ash is like spaghetti without sauce. What's the point?

This looks great. This is the kind of remake we all deserve, not a lot of the other crappy remakes we get (Friday the 13th anyone?). This movie is obviously going to be very bloodly (good!) and induce a lot of shocking scenes that the original couldn't because of low budget. Yet, it has all the essentials that made the original what it was. It also seems their is some of Evil Dead 2 in there with some humor, chopping off of body parts, and chainsaw action to it's max.

The girl in the picture looks like a inbreed of Gollum and Marion Cotillard

  • The Jackal

Wow! That was sick and twisted and gross and I'm totally there. I'm very creeped out, let's hope the final product rocks like this trailer just did.

    Thems the facts

Since I've seen the original and love it, this trailer upsets me and gets me excited at the same time. For one thing, it spoils EVERYTHING pretty much. If there are scenes in the film that I didn't see in this trailer, then I'll be WAY impressed.

Some movies just should not be remade. This is one of them.

  • beatrixbells

Wow. I can honestly say this is the first time that I can't wait to see a remake of a movie I loved ! :D

I'm not really a horror film fan, but my friend told me to check out this "red band" trailer.
Honestly, I would rather not waste my money on watching something that I already know isn't real and furthermore would just leave me with wasted, ugly memories after I've seen it.
