6 Souls
6 Souls on DVD Blu-ray today
I haven't seen Brian De Palma's Raising Cain forever and can hardly remember the plot, but the plot for 6 Souls sounds very familiar:

After the death of her husband, Dr. Cara Harding's (Julianne Moore) faith in God has been shaken, but not her belief in science. In an attempt to open her up to accepting unexplainable psychiatric theories, her father introduces her to Adam, a patient with multiple personalities who takes on some of the physical characteristics of his other personalities. But, Cara quickly discovers that Adam’s other personalities are murder victims and the more she finds out about him and his past, the closer she and her loved ones are to becoming murder victims themselves.

I went and looked up the Raising Cain plot as a refresher and they do sound somewhat similar. Who knows, this may be a decent little film.

The Up Series and 56 Up
I haven't seen any of the documentaries in Michael Apted's Up series, but all eight films -- Seven UP, 7 Plus Seven, 21 UP, 28 UP, 35 UP, 42 UP, 49 UP and the latest 56 UP -- are available in this DVD box set for $37.99. The films follow the lives of fourteen British children since the age of seven and a new episode has been made every seven years, the most recent being 56 Up. I've requested a review copy and will hopefully receive it soon. It's a series I can't wait to comment on.

On top of the films, the set includes features such as a Roger Ebert interview with Michael Apted, biographies, photogallery and a filmmaker's statement.

Nothing for me this week but I'm glad Iron Man 3 has a release date. It's my favourite film of the year so far (but I'm seeing The Heat in about an hour so maybe that will knock it out of the top spot).

Pretty sure 6 Souls is crap with a 4% on RT. RT isn't something to live and die by, but when it's that low, I usually avoid it.

Talking about blu-ray's and dvd's, the home video releases in the US needs to have more blu-ray steelbooks! I find a ton of steelbooks on the UK and Germany Amazon websites and some of them are region free but expensive to order.

I love Steelbooks. I get as many new releases as I can in Steelbook, usually the artwork is better than standard releases as well. Not always. But usually.

Yeah I try to look for Steelbooks. I wanted to get Steelbooks for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Inglorious Bastards but unfortunately not available for the US.

6 Souls and Raising Cain are actually very different, despite superficial sounding similarities. I'd say Cain is a more enjoyable film though simply because it's De Palma just going totally OTT.

I'd buy the Twilight Zone, but almost all of it is on Netflix.
