Based on the best-selling book that was one of the most popular and widely read non-fiction books of recent years written by Laura Hillenbrand, "Seabiscuit: An American Legend," this movie turned book wins all bets.
Despite a slow start
Seabiscuit hits full stride and traps you in a story of the little guy taking on the world in an epic of triumph and perseverance set during the Great Depression. With heart pounding race scenes and an ending that leaves you with a lump in your throat and had several in the crowd reaching for their Kleenex.
For those that don't know yet
Seabiscuit is the story of three men - a jockey (Maguire), a trainer (Cooper) and a businessman (Bridges) - and the down-and-out racehorse that took them and the entire nation on the ride of a lifetime.
Seabiscuit gives a true-to-life look at what horse racing was like and what life was like back in the '30s and Jeff Bridges handles the role of the wealthy businessman of the time perfectly.
Tobey Maguire delivers an inspiring performance and Chris Cooper follows up his Golden Globe performance in
Adaptation with another role to remember.
Oscar talk is already surrounding
Seabiscuit and due to the lack of excellent movies so far this year it is looking promising as we move into the second half of the movie season.
The race to the Oscars has officially begun and
Seabiscuit is the first out of the gates.
