Set in Buenos Aires during a military junta in the late 1970's, this is the story of an Argentinean playwright (Banderas) with the psychic ability to see the locations of the missing loved ones of people by looking at their faces (at the time, many people were being abducted by the police, known as "los desaparecidos", or "the disappeareds"), but he is frustrated when his own wife (Thompson), an activist journalist, disappears and he finds it doesn't work on himself...
