Hearing Kate Beckensale had been cast in the lead was the first indication that Hollywood was doing their stereotypical thing with the property... The main character of the novel is decidedly average, somewhat stocky, and noticeably removed from cover-girl looks. We're certainly not introduced to her with a shower scene, nor does she have a love interest. Once I saw some giant plane crash in the trailer and gunplay (neither appearing in the book), I knew we were getting some pumped-up, Hollywood action/glam version of things.
