Miscasting Condoleezza and Tony Blair in 'W'
Stone's casting really seems off
I am sure those of you that are interested in Oliver Stone's biopic on George W. Bush called W have already read my script review and realize that I am cool with Stone casting Josh Brolin as W and Elizabeth Banks as his wife Laura, but I really don't see what he is thinking with his recent casting of Condoleezza Rice and Tony Blair.
The Hollywood Reporter tells us Rice will be played by Thandie Newton and Blair, or "Tones" as Bush refers to him in the script, will be played by Ioan Gruffudd. Gotta say, neither of these two seem right for their respective roles, especially Newton.
Newton and Blair are the first to be cast that are not playing members of the Bush family. James Cromwell and Ellen Burstyn play George H.W. Bush and Barbara Bush.
The far more interesting roles yet to be cast included Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and advisor Karl Rove. The actor that scores the Rove role will be given some potentially Oscar-worthy meat.
W is expected to begin filming soon with a possible November 2008 release in mind.

How much alcohol does it take to make Condi look like Thandie? Ok possibly less than the Elizabeth to Laura.
Either attempt would end up in the hospital so I'll just wait see what the make-up department can do.
