Michael Mann and Will Smith Build an 'Empire'
Love to see Mann back at work
It is nice to hear Michael Mann's name again associated with something outside of just producing. Mann recently produced the Peter Berg actioner The Kingdom and is also producing Berg's latest, Hancock, which coincidentally stars Will Smith as a disaffected superhero and Mann and Smith are now set to work together as director and star.
Mann is set to direct Will Smith in Empire for Columbia Pictures from a John Logan script. There is no word on the plot of the drama other than us knowing Smith will play a contemporary global media mogul.
While this is not confirmed to be Mann's next film, Variety does say the director is looking for a project to begin filming early 2008.
