Megan Fox is 'Crossing' Over the Border
Is the casting couch back en vogue?
Is Megan Fox considered the new Hollywood hottie or where exactly does that title fall? I know one thing, Fox gains her attention based on her looks as neither Transformers or How to Lose Friends and Alienate People earned her any kind of acting points. Still to come she has the Diablo Cody penned horror/comedy Jennifer's Body and she has lined up a pair of comic adaptations with Jonah Hex and Fathom, but I'm not seeing a lot on her plate that doesn't require a merely pretty face. No knock on her, use what you got, but I can't help but wonder if she's got anymore to bring to the table.
Her latest project announcement comes from Risky Biz Blog where Steven Zeitchik tells us Fox will star in The Crossing, a border thriller for Screen Gems with a script written by Byron Willinger and Philip de Blasi. In the film a couple returning from a Mexican vacation are carjacked and the husband kidnapped. The wife (Fox) must smuggle heroin across the border in order to spring him. No director is attached and based on that generic plotline I don't expect Martin Scorsese or Ridley Scott to rush to the front of the line.
Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper did a little bit of what studio heads need to do in saying Fox is ideal for the role of a woman who must be both victim and hero. The part "requires a vulnerability to make you care about her but a kind of strength to make you believe she can pull off the things she needs to, and Megan has both a vulnerability about her and an unbelievable strength." What exactly is he basing this on? I'm guessing it's based on the acting shown in the clip included in this post and someone told him Fox's character was saving starving children by simply proving she could get to the other side of the pool without bumping into anyone.
Fox will next be showing off her vulnerability and strength in what is sure to be an Oscar-worthy performance in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on June 24.

I'm glad to see shows that depict drug use in a realistic way since millions of Americans use illegal drugs everyday. All drugs should be legal. A group of 20,000 very serious policemen, prosecutors and attorneys have formed a group to legalize ALL drugs, Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (http://leap.cc ) They see what happened when we legalized alcohol in 1932 as a good example of how drug legalization would work. We can't stop drugs. They're sick of chasing drug users and sending innocent people to prison for decades just because they like to get high. This foolish war on drugs has lasted 37 years and cost us over a TRILLION dollars and we are not an inch closer to stopping drugs. How many millions of Americans are we going to lock up in prison for decades? Legalize ALL drugs now. Mark Montgomery [email protected]
I think Megan will surprise, she was quite a different character in Lose than Transformers. Yes she still showed us shes a stunner in both, but thats part of the package deal.
Very candid piece, Brad. This is one of the reasons I enjoy reading RoS.
Yes, I don't get it. Does she audition, because this is seriously ridiculous.
I have nothing against her, she's pretty, but I haven't seen great acting from her so far.
I'm going to assume some of these scenes in this film will involve Megan Fox being so hot from the Mexican desert she must take off most of her clothes. Scenes where she is scantaly dressed and sweaty. And scenes where suspecting her of drug smuggling, the border batrol strip search her.
But maybe the producers wont take advantage of the fact Fox is very attractive.
People can be so judgemental. How many actors have gotten great roles just because of their looks. It just so happens she is unavoidingly beautiful. Plus, how many peolpe can say that it is easy to pull off a love scene or kiss scene and completely convince you its genuine. The girl has skills she just han't gotten the chance to work with the right director as yet.
