Maguire is 'Good' for Soderbergh's 'German'
Tobey joins George and Cate.
Tobey Maguire may be one of the few actors that will not be typecast as his alter-ego Spider-Man as the young man with true acting chops and now he is set to join George Clooney and Cate Blanchett in the Steven Soderbergh directed film The Good German.
The story is based on the Joseph Kanon novel and follows an American journalist (Clooney) drawn into a murder mystery in post-war Berlin, where he's searching for his wartime mistress (Blanchett). Maguire will play a seemingly innocent soldier who drives the journo around town and has motives of his own.
The film is going to be shot entirely in black-and-white and is expected to begin production this fall over at Warner Bros.
