As for whether or not this is worth a buy, I'm a bit on the fence. Rian Johnson offers good content in terms of giving fans something to enjoy while watching his movie and, as it turns out, you can also download his other commentary track and listen to that while watching this latest release. As far as I'm concerned, buying this DVD/Blu-ray means you are not only getting a solid movie, you are getting a solid movie worth discussing, as we have already done so on this site not once, not twice, but thrice, concluding with my interview with the man himself.
Okay, I've convinced myself, pick this one up. It is certainly one of 2012's better films.
It begins with Robert Pattinson seated in what I will call the "captain's chair" for the sake of this discussion and by the time you get to the final scene with Paul Giamatti, just notice the power struggle between the two characters. If anything, David Cronenberg's blocking in this film is phenomenal and a lesson in and of itself.

Just watched Looper on iTunes last night. Really liked it
I bought Looper on blu-ray yesterday. I watched it a second time. I thought it was better the second time around. Probably because I was high this time and sober the first time haha. But I loved it for its originality and thought it had a cool plot because there are rarely any original movies these days.
I'm just about to read Cosmopolis and when I finish it, I'll watch the film a second time to see if it might find its way into my top 5 (or honorable mentions).
I agree, it's one of my favorites of 2012... The book is an odd read, I'm not even sure what tense it's in (I'm thinking second person, and that isn't even evident having finished it). It's intriguing, to say the least.
I just got the blu-ray, I'll maybe watch it next week. I know I don't need to rewatch it right away as it already is my favorite movie of the year. The one I need to see once more is Django, maybe it could even beat Looper.
I wish Mann's films would get better releases. Criterion of "Heat" at the very least would be amazing.
I would likely buy Looper but probably down the line when it's on sale or something like that.
Just watched cosmopolis last night and enjoyed it. Could not turn away, because I knew we were watching a strange train-wreak. Have to give it up to Robert Pattinson because he was a perfect Eric Packer and Juliette Binoche was over the top rolling around the limo floor. This movie is strange and it makes you think. Classic Cronenberg!!
