A Look at Barrymore 'South of the Border'
Animals talk and Drew is one of them
The voice cast for Walt Disney Pictures' new comedy South of the Border has been announced with Scooby-Doo franchise helmer Raja Gosnell directing.
Leading the way in the film in which the animals talk will be Drew Barrmore as a chihuahua named Chloe and the who's who of Latino actors including Andy Garcia, Salma Hayek, George Lopez, Cheech Marin, Paul Rodriguez, Placido Domingo, Edward James Olmos and Eddie "Piolin" Sotelo.
The film chronicles the adventures of a pampered Beverly Hills chihuahua named Chloe accustomed to riding in a purse. While on vacation in Mexico, she gets lost and must rely on her friends to help her get back home.
Garcia is playing a German shepherd who was kicked off the police force because he lost his sense of smell and has now given up on life. Hayek is Chloe's spirit guide who helps her find her true heritage.
Lopez is Papi, a macho romantic Chihuahua who will do anything for the love of Chloe. Piper Perabo was previously cast as the Chloe's human owner searching for her lost pet.
Is it just me or isn't this the same story as Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey mixed in with a little Lady and the Tramp? I remember thinking Homeward Bound was pretty good when I was younger so maybe this one will work too.
