Today's batch of MPAA ratings is even lighter than usual as only one major release was rated today, though I was surprised to see Brad Anderson's The Call starring Halle Berry get an R-rating. This is one I fully expected to get a PG-13, but perhaps the March 15 release will have a little something extra in store than your average PG-13 thriller.

Below is the complete batch of latest MPAA ratings from Bulletin #2261.

The Adventures Of Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Treasure
Rated PG For some action and peril.
Rated R For violence, disturbing content and some language.
Release Date: March 15, 2013
Donovan's Echo

Home Sweet Home
Rated R For bloody violence, terror and some language.
Language of a Broken Heart
Rated R For some sexual references.
Love Sick Love
Rated R For language, some sexual content and brief violence.
Ring the Bell
Rated PG For mild thematic elements.
Tio Papi
Rated PG For thematic elements, mild rude humor and brief language.
TWA Flight 800
Rated PG-13 For some disturbing graphic images and brief language.

Am I the only one that saw the R rating for The Call coming?

    • G-Man

Nope. That was my first impression actually.

I feel kind of weird that the "disturbing content" makes me more intrigued.

  • GregDinskisk

I hope Halle Berry gets fucked up, completely unexpectedly. I love it when the main character gets killed randomly.

    • Xarnis

So, I'm assuming you liked Psycho?

      • GregDinskisk

I'm not a huge Hitchcock fan, but Psycho is one I have really enjoyed since watching it the first time... Seeing it as a comedy makes it really work well! And that twist was fantastic.

        Have you seen Death Proof?

        • Xarnis

No, that's the only Tarantino film I haven't seen.

          • Jake

Death proof is the only Tarantino movie I absolutely loathed. Just too long and dull

          • GregDinskisk

Ah, check it out if you get a chance! It's my third favorite by him.

            • lalecture

I bought Death Trap at a garage sale but havent watched it. Everyone keeps telling me its his worst film. Even Tarrantino says that, I think.
Im curious what you like about it. And for the record, I love his movies!

              • GregDinskisk

I was very lukewarm about it the first time I watched it, but I've seen it about six times since then, and now I love it. I'm writing an analysis on why I liked it so much right now, actually....

I think Reservoir Dogs is his worst film, right now... I'm alone in that opinion though, methinks...

  • Yaz

I'm more surprised (and disappointed) to see that Brad Anderson is the director behind The Call... Sigh. Doesn't seem like a very creative venture. At least The Machinist, Session 9 and Transsiberian had something to offer...

  • lalecture

yeah, from the trailer The Call looks a bit predictable. That is unless Halle Berry gets fucked up!! In that case the story could take a very interesting turn!!

  • lalecture

I saw reservoir dogs too. Wasn't crazy about it but the end was good. Definitely less refined Tarantino!
I'll watch death trap this week sometime. Thanks for the tip

    • GregDinskisk

Yeah, definitely his least stylistic, several technical mishaps (I could've sworn I saw a mic at some point) and the dialogue is his worst, lots of lull. Yeah, that ending was good, though. Plus any scene with Michael Madsen, who's a phenomenal actor.

Anytime, by the way! I hope you like it! On "What I Watched What You Watched" be sure to write about it (When you do see it, obviously).

      • lalecture

        Will do!

TWA Flight 800. Rated PG-13 for some disturbing graphic images and brief language? Was the movie almost rated R?
