Wow, the MPAA has really been pulling the NC-17 trigger a lot lately. Just in 2011 and 2012 so far, we have Shame, Killer Joe, Elles (a film starring Juliette Binoche, which premiered at TIFF last year), A Serbian Film, a Mexican film of which I can't remember the title, and probably a film or two that I'm forgetting.

"Blue Valentine", even though that got rerated..

    • D

I was disappointed that Hobo with a Shotgun was never submitted. They must have assumed it would get an NC-17 and so didn't even bother.

      • KarmaPolice

Oh yeah, that one would've been NC-17 for sure. Super probably would've, too.

        • D

Super is rated R. Not sure if that's uncut, but I assume it is.

I Saw the Devil is another one that was never rated. I could see it scraping by with an R, albeit a very, very "hard" R.

          • KarmaPolice

My bad, I didn't realize Super had an MPAA rating. I'm honestly somewhat surprised to learn that.

Haven't seen I Saw the Devil, but Enter the Void, Leap Year (the Mexican one), and The Human Centipede 2 are a few recent unrated films that would have easily received NC-17s.

Probably the most interesting film this week is "Beasts of the Southern Wild". I'm a LITTLE surpised with the ratnig though, with all these comparisons to "Slumdog", I thought for sure this'd be R. Glad to see it's PG-13

I can't wait for the new rza film for 2 reasons:
    1. I love the Wu Tang Clan. They don't make good rap like wu tang clan anymore.
    2. Quentin Tarantino

    • MajorFilmFan

This isn't the obne with Tarantino. That's "Django Unchained"
