I was sure that Wolfman would get an R after watching the Comic-Con footage back in 08. I am unsure of how the movie will turn out as a whole, but the trailers keep me excited.
Seriously? Forgot its roots? I'm calling BS on that, who cares that its not a PG movie, grow a pair and respect the fact that you're going to have to get mom and dad to sign off on it for you.
settle down travis- but i agree, an R rating was the only way I would get to that movie, at this point Ive been waiting 3 years so Ive lost almost all faith, reviews will tell
im looking foward to defendor trailer caught my eye and if paris of love is from the guy behind taken it ought to be good im in
And YES wolfman got the rating it needed
I'm gonna have to do a lot of convincing for my parents on Wolfman. I am glad its rated R though. I got my parents to take me to Zombieland. They seem to want to see this. I bet i can get them too. But i am very glad that Wolfman is gonna be as realistic as it can be for a werewolf-man movie.
I am actaully very relieved to see that wolfman got the R rating. i actually saw the trailer yesterday before Ninja Assassin and thought that this movie has the potential to be very well made as well as quite dark and grisly. I became very excited, but then the thought hit me that if it was R, it might not make as much money and that seems to be a common reason to tone down movies. However, now I am looking forward to what seems to be a well made film without having to worry about any rating constraints.
I am not surprised at all about Defendor's rating though. It not only desreves an R because Woody is absoloutly hilarious and censoring him would suck, but it also seems like a movie that wouldnt appeal to a young teenage audience.
@Travis C.:
Actually, Travis C., Brad won't need his parents to sign off on it for him, since he's of age. And secondly, he's going to see it for free, just like all the other movies he reviews. Haha. :P
I think that Wolfman will do very good as an R Rated movie, as long as it is not ridiculously gory. I'm don't want it to be "Saw" or "Hostel" gory. It will be gory. There will be lots of bloodshed, we knew that when we saw the trailer. I can definetley handle gore, i was fine with Zombieland including the fat guy getting killed in the football field. I can handle Wolfman ripping off a guys arm. I am usually more intriqued by the gore (that might sound sickening) but what i mean is that i am interested in how the directors use the effects, how real it looks, and just the effect of it all. Now i am not saying i love the "saw" movies. I have never seen them! I'm only twelve years old! But this also comes out right before my birthday so i am gonna have to choose between this (if my parents let me see it), Shutter Island (depending on the rating and if my parents let me see it, or The Lightning Thief (its almost guraenteed a PG rating and i would prefer to see WM or SI.
TS — you're twelve — Jesus! And Zombieland was so not gory. Also, I hate to tell you (actually I don't, but whatever), but there is no way in hell nor any other dimension that Shutter Island is getting less than an R. It's a very, very dark story, and Scorcese does not edit his films to please those who have not reached adolescence.
I'm 16 until May, but I'll just watch the film online or go with friends who are older. I'm actually really intrigued now that I know it's a hard-R. I love the original Wolf Man and this will not come close, I'm sure, but I'm still a sucker for horror films.
Defendor looks fabulous. Woody Harrelson is the fucking man.
@TS: @Matt:
being 17 in jan ive used the friend or parent buy a ticket system so use those but seriously if it says gore it still means it could be alot i wouldnt reccomendc your parents letting you see this TS and zombieland could of toned its language and violence a bit and PG-13 this is a whole new level
Shutter Island will definetley be R. After seeing the second trailer that is. But Wolfman is not taking it to a whole new level. A movie that is gory than "saw" or "hostel" is taking it to a new level. We all hear people say that "saw" is the goriest movie they have ever seen and "hostel" is a close second. I have seen gory movies before: District 9, Halloween (new), Wanted, and Watchmen, are probably the goriest i have seen.
@TS
I dont mean to rude or anything, but the "saw" franchise and hostel are far gorier than District 9 , Halloween, Wanted, and Watchmen. Those movies are for the most part "bloody" but by no means "gory". Saw and Hostel focus on the gore, while the other films dont as much.
its a whole new level than zombieland
btw ive seem them all saw and hostel 2 still gory yet there are scenes that are gory like the buzzsaw arm in watchmen while all are more bloody than gory
TS,
go watch salo.
Ok, I just Saw and Saw 2. Very gory. Too gory to be good. It was so bad that i wanted to stop watching but i kinda couldn't. It was ridiculous.
PS- Also, Halloween is a VERY gory movie. So is Halloween II. Keep in mind, these are both the new ones.
