'Last Exorcism' Chatroulette Marketing is Excellent
Now that's one way to scare people
I've already seen Lionsgate's The Last Exorcism, which is due in theaters on August 27, but I'll leave any further comment on that matter for that time. However, I will discuss this latest marketing (and not make fun of the silly Eli Roth introductions that are playing in front of screenings… Twittics Eli? Really?) as Lionsgate has been taking their advertising to the random webcam website Chatroulette and scaring the hell out of unsuspecting guys that think they are going to be getting a naked girl and end up getting so much more.
They've uploaded the "best of" reactions to YouTube (via SlashFilm) and the video is included directly below. I've also added a new poster and three new pics to the image gallery, which you can check out right here.

F'in scary, hahahaha. Awesome.
That is some excellent marketing!
One of the coolest fucking things I have ever seen in my life.
It's too bad they threw the ".com" tag at the end, would've been a more interesting campaign without it. Nice piece of viral marketing though.
LMFAOOOOO!!!!!!!! omg that was tooo dam hilarious
Genius marketing. Very smart.
i thought the videos were sooooooooo boring. you call this good marketing?!? whatever…
you're so cool, nothing phases you..douche
Why are you such a douchebag? Did mommy never give you attention? :(
Exorcisms are so mainstream. I was into evil soul possession when it was underground. Muaha. Obvious troll is obvious. You're just upset you lost your hard-on…
too bad the movie sucked ass
That was some weird stuff, but very clever and original, gotta keep ahead of the curveball eh.
Excellent
I was watching this video, laughing really hard, but it only got better because I totally know the guys in the last clip. What pussies!
It wasn't very good marketing because the movie has nothing like that happen it. It is mostly a movie trying to throw off on Christianity and the foolishness of faith. The preacher in it blatantly calls exorcism a lie and tries to prove it by exorcising a troubled young girl. It is called the last exorcism because the minister is doing the documentary on the basis that it is his last time preforming exorcisms, because he didn't believe that there is such things as demons or God. It goes through a bunch of drama and the girl shows signs of mental illness or what-not. They find out she is pregnant. At first it seems like the father might be committing incest and then the brother might be beating her/committing incest (or at least it eludes to the fact that, that might be happening). The only special effects are at the end of the film. They see the girl on an alter and she is delivering a premature infant, it is born looking inhuman and then the priest throws the baby in the fire and a demon appears as flames. They see the preacher and the camera woman. They kill her and try to kill him. This causes the preacher to regain his faith immediately and he tries to exorcise the demon, end movie. There were no special effects dealing with the girl. She did some contortionist acts and beat a cat with a camera but that is it. Nothing scary or spectacular. It is moreover a humdrum fake docudrama. She never climbs wall, her eyes don't roll into the back of her head. Nothing interesting happens. I was left thinking that I wasted time watching it when I could have been doing something else.
Does going to church your whole life not teach you how to use proper punctuation?
…just saying.
