Kit Harington is most popularly known as Jon Snow in HBO's "Game of Thrones" but his success there finds him moving to the big screen. He was previously seen in Silent Hill: Revelation 3D and will next be seen in Seventh Son, which has recently gone undated after it moved from Warner Bros. to Universal in the WB/Legendary separation, but after that he'll be seen in Pompeii for Resident Evil director Paul W.S. Anderson on February 28, 2014.

Set in late summer 79 A.D., Pompeii revolves around the slave (Harington) of a shipping tycoon who dreams of the day he can buy his freedom and marry his master's daughter (Emily Browning). What the slave doesn't know is that she's already been promised to a corrupt Roman senator, while he's been sold to another owner.

Just when things can't get any worse, Mt. Vesuvius erupts with the power of 40 nuclear bombs. But the slave is trapped on a ship headed for Naples, separated from his love and best friend, a gladiator who is trapped in the city's coliseum. As fire and ash destroy the only world he's ever known, the slave is determined to get back and rescue them.

Jared Harris, Kiefer Sutherland, Carrie-Anne Moss, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Jessica Lucas co-star.

Sounds like the pitch for this was "Titanic, but with lava instead of water!"

I have a bad feeling about this.

I had abs like that in the 80's, those were the days.

I would refer the filmmakers to "Dante's Peak" and "Volcano" for them to reference just how "exciting" movies about volcanoes can be.
Also, I'm trying to recall from my grade school history here, but wasn't Pompeii like instantly destroyed? I thought the ash cloud fell and killed everyone in seconds. That's going to make for a pretty sudden ending if they stay true.

I've seen a couple docs about Pompeii and I think the actual eruption took a couple days to play out, starting with an ash cloud for a period of time and then at some point later pyroclastic flow destroyed the town and area around it very fast. So, not to defend the scientific accuracy of a Paul Anderson film but they may have a little scope to play with before final destruction.

Paul WS Anderson is masterful director whose films are full of grace and beauty... wait that's Paul Thomas Anderson. Yeah this is probably gonna suck.

It looks like his head was pasted onto some other person's body.

That's some truly horrific photoshopping. Looks about as real as Ricardo Montalban's plastic chest in The Wrath of Khan.

    • Winchester

They've always maintained they were his own pecs with no fakery. Of course I'm commenting on this because the film is probably not going to be great and there's not a lot else to say.

You call those abs? THOSE? That's just puuuure fat compared to mine!!!

  • Kimberlesk

Wow, this is one of those films that I will probably see - just to see how bad it is. I doubt it will top Sharknado, but there's always hope!
