Kirkpatrick Directing Murphy's 'NowhereLand'
Interesting family comedy may help Eddie out
Eddie Murphy saw major backlash after being praised in Dreamgirls and then panned in Norbit, and I have a feeling his next flick, Starship Dave for Fox, which follows a crew of miniature human-looking aliens who are seeking a way to save their doomed world won't be helping his career any more than Norbit did. However, news of a more down-to-earth and less corny movie has just come in the form of NowhereLand for Paramount Pictures with Over the Hedge co-director Karey Kirkpatrick set to helm.
In the film Murphy will portray a successful financial exec who finds his career going down the drain and discovers the answers to his problems within his daughter's imaginary world. Co-writer Ed Solomon drew the idea from his own life when his young son came up with a suggestion that solved a business problem.
Plans are to begin filming on September 10.
