Kinkade Painting Getting Movie Adaptation?

How do they do this?

I have always thought Thomas Kinkade's paintings were fantastic and you could always imagine a story going on in his snow-filled villages and beautiful landscapes, but a feature film adaptation? Apparently Lionsgate has a better imagination than me as Variety is reporting that the studio is partnering with the Firm on a feature adaptation of Kinkade's painting "The Christmas Cottage," aiming for a holiday season release.

Word is that the project is a part of an overall film-TV producing deal that Lionsgate made with Kinkade with the film set to begin shooting next month with Michael Campus directing from a Ken LaZebnick script. How is that going to work? Well, it isn't really about the painting as much as it may seem as it will be partly biographical, based on how Kinkade was motivated to begin his career as an artist after discovering his mother was in danger of losing the family home.

Casting is underway and shooting's starting next month in Vancouver.
