Kidman Cast as Villain in 'Golden Compass'
Nicole will be the villainous and glamorous Mrs. Coulter
In a role that sounds like it was made for the 39-year-old actress Nicole Kidman has just been cast as the villainous and glamorous Mrs. Coulter in New Line Cinema's The Golden Compass.
The film is based on the first part of Phillip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy and is set to go into production in September at London's Shepperton Studios with a budget reported to be at $150 million.
The film is being directed by Chris Weitz form his own script and will star Dakota Blue Richards in the lead role of Lyra Belacqua, who travels to a parallel universe to battle the forces of evil and rescue her best friend.
The picture is currently eyeing a release of November 16, 2007.
