Kevin Costner Announced as Father Kent in Zack Snyder's 'Superman'
Slowly but surely the cast is coming together
Warner Bros. just issued a press release confirming previous rumors that Kevin Costner would play Jonathan Kent, the father who raised Clark Kent as his own son, in Superman: Man of Steel to be directed by Zack Snyder (300).
Costner will star alongside Diane Lane, who plays his wife, Martha, and the film’s star, Henry Cavill, who will play the new Clark Kent/Superman.
Quoted in the release Snyder said, “Jonathan Kent is the only father figure Clark has ever had, the man who was there to help Clark understand what he was meant to do in the world as Superman. Kevin will be able to communicate the quiet strength of this rural American man who raised the greatest super hero of all time.”

I like the casting of Ma and Pa Kent, yeah, we all remember The Postman and Waterworld, but I think Kevin will deliver the goods
Really can't think of a better role for Costner. This is great news. He plays the "everyman" very well, because, lets face it, thats kind of what he is.
I'm probably one of 10 people who saw(let alone liked) his movie The New Daughter in '09, but his character in that was very much the same kind of character he'll need to play as Pa Kent, and I think he'll nail it.
