Joseph Kosinski Breaks Down the Trailer for 'Oblivion' Starring Tom Cruise

Plus Guillermo del Toro's commentary on the 'Pacific Rim' trailer

Oblivion posterThe new thing in trailers seems to be a commentary track as of late. I didn't post the one Guillermo del Toro did for Pacific Rim when it first debuted so I added it to the bottom of this post for anyone that might be interested. Today director Joseph Kosinski goes on for a little over 12 minutes dissecting the recent trailer for his new movie Oblivion starring Tom Cruise.

Oblivion is set on a future Earth where Jack Harper (Cruise) is something of a WALL•E character in that he is one of the last few drone repairmen stationed on Earth. Part of a massive operation to extract vital resources after decades of war with a terrifying threat known as the Scavs, Jack's mission is nearly complete. Living and patrolling the breathtaking skies from thousands of feet above, his soaring existence is brought crashing down when he rescues a beautiful stranger from a downed spacecraft. Her arrival triggers a chain of events that forces him to question everything he knows and puts the fate of humanity in his hands.

Morgan Freeman, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Melissa Leo, Olga Kurylenko and Andrea Riseborough co-star and Oblivion will arrive in theaters on April 19, 2013.

Trailers with commentaries. How precious can you get.

Am I missing something? Where are the commentaries? (Also, this is now the fourth or fifth time I haven't seen anything when there should be a video posted. I thought maybe it was my browser or something, but I've noticed it on both my iPod and laptop. You might want to look at that, Brad.)

I don't know if I'm just incredibly stupid, but I spent the last five minutes trying to find the commentary feature at the bottom of the article. Where exactly is it?

      • Brad Brevet

Nope, something went wrong with the post. Fixed now.

No idea what happened, somehow a version got posted without the videos. Updated. They should be there now.
