Jason Lee Likes Kids TV Adaptations
From Underdog to Chipmunks
Jason Lee is apparently the number one goto guy if you are making a feature film adaptation of a one-time popular television cartoon. Lee is currently voicing the title character in Disney's Underdog and is now set to play the role of Dave Seville in Alvin and the Chipmunks for 20th Century Fox and director Tim Hill.
The film will be a live-action/CGI adaptation of the animated television show with Lee playing Seville, the father to Alvin, Simon and Theodore, the mischievous chipmunk rockers. The story will center on Seville and the chipmunks, focusing on the trio's origins as singing sensations.
Alvin and the Chipmunks is currently set for a December 14, 2007 release with production set to begin at the end of March. Enjoy a clip of the '80s show below.
