Morley Safer sits down with James Cameron
I haven't watched this yet, but it's the talk of the Internet as Morley Safer gets the first look at how James Cameron created his $400 million 3-D fantasy Avatar on "60 Minutes." And yes, those are the exact words being used, dollar figure and all.
I have included the video directly below. It runs for 12 minutes and 42 seconds.
Avatar hits theaters on December 18, for more on the film including pictures, trailers and more click here.

Very fascinating; however, it was very vague as to the actual details of the picture, still it got me excited about December 18.
Note: $400+ million for a movie? Good God!! If the story and acting matches the visuals, this film will have no problem making a profit. I'm predicting $700 million. Add that $300 million profit to the DVD and Video game returns and you've got a hit movie.
Love it. But Morley Safer is such a hilarious person to have explain Avatar to the public.
'Ya see, these big blue things are the Nah-vees, and they're completely made in these big supercomputers that James Cameron invented, see?'
if he pulls this off, this thing is going to be huge
Well, the $400mil for the movie is both the production & the marketing, as Morley Safer specified. So it isn't as much as we think it is, because we're so used to hearing the production budget only. Think: "Prince Caspian" cost $225mil to make, but when you add in marketing ($175mil), it cost $400mil in all. So basically, "Avatar" cost as much to make & market as "Prince Caspian."
Doesn't sound so expensive anymore, does it?
Oddly, the thing that stuck out most during this profile was his comment on OJ. Wowsa.
"Tails are cool"
I larfed.
