Jai Courtney Cast as John McClane's Son in 'Die Hard 5'
Production begins in April for a Fenruary 2013 release

20th Century Fox just sent over news that Jai Courtney, best known as Varro in "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", has landed the role as John (Jack) McClane, Jr., the son of John McClane, Bruce Willis' iconic action hero, in the fifth Die Hard feature, A Good Day to Die Hard.
The official synopsis for the film tells us McClane will head to Moscow for this fifth feature and introduces his estranged son Jack. An apple that has not fallen far from the tree, Jack may even be more of a hardass than his father, but despite their differences, they must work together to keep each other alive – and the world safe for democracy.
The film begins production this April, for a February 14, 2013 release with John Moore (Max Payne) directing.
February 2013 will prove to be a big month for Courtney as he will also be seen opposite Tom Cruise in One Shot, which hits theaters only six days earlier on February 8.

I cannot wait for this movie! I will honestly follow John McClane all the way till the dys he's kicking peoples ass with his walker in tow… Yippy Ki Yay!
Really looking forward to this too. It will probably be called Die Hard 5 in Australia since judging by "Die Hard 4.0" someone thinks we are all idiots.
I keep hoping this will be R rated but I doubt it. So if it's PG-13 at the very least I hope the eventual "uncut" dvd/bluray version won't an out of sync mess of ADR like the last one.
Im glad theyre giving it to a relative nobody. Kind of where Bruce Willis was when he started the franchise(although obviously he was slightly more well known). Maybe this will beJai Courtneys opportunity to become a household name. Then again…maybe not
I love John McClain and will see every Die Hard that comes along, but I wish I didn't know this guy cast as his son played Varro in Spartacus. Now that's all I'm going to see when I look at him — the platinum blond, curly-haired, cherub-like, pseudo-gay Varro, ugh. He looks better with the buzz cut.
