Jaden Gets a Leg Up in First Four Pics from the New 'Karate Kid'

I can't do that... can you?

The first official images of Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan in Columbia Pictures' remake The Karate Kid have just arrived and you can't get any kind of real impression of the film, but I must admit Jaden is certainly pulling off the high kick.

The film is a bit of a departure from the original, but still maintains the general story as it centers on a bullied youth (Smith) who learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor (Chan). Taraji P. Henson stars as Smith's mother and Pink Panther 2 helmer Harald Zwart is directing. The film hits theaters on June 11.

For some reason, I thought this was going to be named "The Kung Fu Kid", making it a bit less annoying as a remake...

Is there any chance someone will infiltrate the studio and burn the negative? This looks like an abomination.

Damn, that's a high kick! Jaden Smith is a rubber band.

The title doesn't make any sense. This is obviously "Karate Kid 5" or "Karate Kid: The Kung Fu Kid," or something like that. Why not give it a real title instead of calling it the same thing?
Like apparently The Next Karate Kid was so bad or something...let's face it the 3rd one was the only reason why it wasn't more popular.
That said I have no problem with this movie. Jackie Chan is the best possibly replacement they could come up with for Mr. Miyagi.

Did Ralph Macchio have something to say or any comments at all regarding this remake? I'm certain it has been brought up to him in some fashion. I wonder if he'll make a cameo. I still have no intention watching this, but I might just end up doing so to see a potential train wreck of epic proportions.
