J.J. Abrams Teases Fans with Minor Glimpse at 'Star Trek 2'

Three frames, that's all you're getting

The interview segment featuring J.J. Abrams with Conan O'Brien builds up to an exclusive first look at Star Trek Into Darkness, or Star Trek 2 considering that's what everyone will refer to it as in casual conversation.

The piece runs for 2 minutes and 22 seconds, but in fact only features three frames of footage from the film as Abrams has clearly grown fond of teasing the rabid need fans have for seeing something... anything... give us more!

That said, the pic above is essentially what you get. I can't tell who it is by looking at it, but reports are saying it's Zachary Quinto as Spock visiting a volcano and making cheeseburgers.

Star Trek Into Darkness hits theaters May 17, 2013 and with this appearance perhaps it could signify you'll see your first trailer soon, but I wouldn't get my hopes up as the first trailer for Abrams' 2008 Star Trek didn't arrive until November (no, I don't count that Enterprise teaser trailer that debuted in September 2008). Looking at the slate of films that month I'd say Paramount's Flight on November 2 would be your best bet as I doubt they'd wait and give the honor to Sony's Skyfall.
