Is Indy Looking for the Ark Again?

I like the sound of this... a lot!

One of the best rumors surrounding Indiana Jones 4 has surfaced at Ain't It Cool News as they are reporting on what may be the storyline and considering everything we have heard about the film and how perfect this sounds I want to believe it is true.

Quint at AICN starts off saying that he really wants the Indy franchise to "come full circle" with this fourth film. This statement is actually key to this story rumor and at first I was pretty much lost in what he was thinking, but it comes together quite nicely.

He mentions how we know Karen Allen will be reprising her role as Marion Ravenwood, Indy's lady friend from Raiders, and that she had a kid with Indy (Shia LaBeouf). A rumor spouting out now is that John Hurt may be playing the role of Abner Ravenwood, long lost father of Marion and mentor to Indy, thought dead in his pursuit of the Ark.

Now, we have heard that Indy may be searching for Atlantis, the Spear of Destiny and even a piece of Noah's Ark and Quint points all these out, but we have also heard there are scenes that take place at Area 51 and there was even talk of aliens. So WTF is that all about? Well that is where it gets good.

Remember at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark how that lacky was wheeling the Ark of the Covenant in a massive warehouse of confidential stuff? The rumor out of AICN is that warehouse is actually in Groom Lake (a.k.a. Area 51) and the Russians are trying to find it in order to one-up the American military might.

I don't know how Indy would fit into the whole story, but I just love the idea of ending it the way it began. However, Quint points out that the word he has gotten from other sources is that there just isn't any room for the Ark of the Covenant in the story they're telling, which is a shame because it sounds very cool. I just hope they don't go crazy with aliens or anything silly like that. Indy has always had that sense of reality even though the stories have been quite fantastical, adding aliens into the mix would be a bit too much.

It was announced today that Indy 4 will have a presence at Comic Con this year so perhaps some info will surface then! Stay tuned.
