UPDATE: Is Warner Bros. Hiding Eastwood's 'Hereafter' at TIFF?
At the moment don't expect a review from me

UPDATE: Just got word from Warner Bros. and there is a press screening for Eastwood's Hereafter on Saturday, Sept. 11. So it looks like I will be having to alter my schedule a bit to accommodate. As for my question in the headline, I guess the answer is "no" but they sure did make it a little difficult to find. Either way, excited to see it.
Just landed in Toronto to begin covering the festival, which begins tomorrow and before I head out to get my registration package I just wanted to share some unfortunate news. Warner Bros. appears to be hiding Clint Eastwood's Hereafter from me and, I assume, other press heading to the Toronto International Film Festival where it will have it's world premiere. Based on the current schedule there is only one public screening and I've only heard rumbles of a press and industry screening happening on Saturday at 3PM, though it isn't listed on the official schedule.
My emails to Warner Bros. regarding the film haven't been answered though questions regarding several screenings of Ben Affleck's The Town have been relayed and I'll be seeing it the first day of the fest.
What gives? I made an attempt to get a ticket to the public screening and was denied, though I have heard of at least one press member that was able to secure a ticket.
Is the film so good they want to create a minor stir before its October 22 release? Or is it so bad they are hoping more-forgiving festival goers will simply be so happy to see it in advance they'll start some positive buzz whereas critics wouldn't be as forgiving?
It's a mystery to me, but if you were waiting to hear my opinion don't hold your breath. It's the only film at the festival I have been unable to get any additional information on upon request and the only film a door has yet to be opened. Perhaps that will change, but for now I'm in the dark.

What makes people in your profession assume that you have a right to be there ? Do you really believe that it's illegal for those who work in the movie business to refuse to cooperate with the internet ?
btw — no one is waiting to hear "your" opinion of anything. You're just another critic.
I'm waiting to hear it, patiently – and without a cynical tone.
Dude, if you don't care about Brad's opinion or what he has to say, why the heck are you on this site?
HEY! Hey! Bad! Don't feed the trolls. Come on now…
I'm waiting for his opinion.
Jim_A, if you really don't care about what Brad has to say, then don't read this site. It's just that simple. Anyway, I guess I now have a reason not to see this at the New York Film Festival. It sounds good, but I don't think there has been any marketing for Hereafter and it comes out in October. That's not good.
Both Gran Torino and Invictus didn't release a trailer until late October for December releases, and that may have been the case with Eastwood's preceding films, when I didn't yet follow this kind of stuff. So the lack of marketing isn't exactly out of the ordinary.
It's epic thats mine guess
there's no trailer for this yet, and it opens Oct. 22
weird. seems WB always "rushes" its Clint Eastwood films. Gran Torino was a quick package when it came out 2 years ago.
Didn't they do the same for Invictus last year? Didn't they release the trailer a month before the movie was released?
I couldn't agree more with Jim A. While I do respect Brad's opinion, there's nothing worse than hearing critics complain about not being able to get into press screenings.
This is the laziest non-story I have ever wasted my time on. To add insult to injury, it is also simultaneously whining and pompous.
Sheesh.
Can you muster up enough energy to at least change the headline?
@Jim_A
Although Brad doesn't have the notoriety as Michael Phillips, Roger Ebert or other famous critics, Brad has consistently been the best critic I have ever seen on the internet. He never mumbles his words and always expresses his feelings and thoughts in such a perfect and eloquent manner that leaves everyone desiring for him to review every movie we see.
I personally ALWAYS wait for Brad to review a movie because he's the best at it. Roger Ebert is contradictory, inconsistent and seems to be off the wagon. And a lot of other critics are ridiculously incomprehensible. Brad always gives credit when credit is due. He won't review "The A-Team" on the same scale he reviewed "Another Year", because they're both different films. He praises the performances and the story in the latter while enjoys the action and the silliness in the former.
He is a damn good reviewer and thats why everyone here IS waiting to read his review. And that's why you're on his site. Even if you are just a troll.
lol "Feedback" everything you said is so wrong, I don't know where to start. So I'll keep it simple and be done with you. Clearly you are in pensive denial that the person known as "Brad" is using a website to harass a studio because his ego was bruised.
suck it
I've gotta say the Hereafter script, at least the draft I read is pretty average, it's not that it'll make a bad movie just that from a solely writing standpoint there wasn't a whole lot to it. I think it'll be hard to promote and will have a run similar to Invictus.
