This is really great Brad- gives a personal insight to your criticism, and it's just a cool feature. Thanks for taking the time to do it.

Great feature. When you know a critics favorite movies it's much easier to understand how their taste relates to yours and that makes their reviews much more helpful in deciding whether you want to see something.

You never posted the box office actuals for the weekend by the way. The estimates had me winning 10 points so I'd really like to see the results.

      • http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/ Brad Brevet

Paramount isn't announcing their actuals until January 2, so I can't do anything until then.

I've just clicked through a couple pages and read the main intro pieces and I'm already pretty impressed with this. If you hadn't said you'd only spent three months on it I'd have guessed it took you all of this year.

This is an awesome feature Brad! I've been following your website since around 2008 and I've come to view your opinions as more or less canon, so to have a casual and accessible way to access all that is awesome! It certainly seems like it will beat sorting through your grade by grade archives, and give the movies themselves some context. Amp'd for this, keep up the hard work!

From someone who always loved Ebert's Best Movies lists/articles, this is a fantastic idea!!! Great job, I look forward to seeing what it's like!

Hey Brad, welcome home. I certainly hope you had an awesome time honeymooning!
I love that you decided to make these lists even though doing so is such a subjective process.
It helps me as I ponder this year's films. Also, I am putting films into my Netflix cue with this info in mind.
    Happy Holidays!

Wow, I have been anticipating this feature for a while, and this is better than I had expected. Way to go Brad!

sounds great. My personal favorite of all time. A true American classic is Michael Cimino's masterpiece The Deer Hunter.(hence my screen name)

    Cool, I think it's a nice touch.

It'll be interesting to see how the project develops in the coming period.
I had a look at the various years and it made me decide to go back and take a look at the years in question to see how I would look at them now. I have no idea what I would have ranked at the time for most of them but if I was looking back now then I would go with what I've put against each year.
I did cheat because some years I still have less than ten and some years I have more but it averages out I think overall and I still have many, many films from some of these years to still see so it still wouldn't entirely be a full and final showing.

  • Josh McLaughlin

Cool new section, Brad! I look forward to seeing more of your postings here about your favorite movies and what they mean to you; you might even give me some good suggestions of some stuff that I haven't seen before that I should seek out!

  • Tehetena

    Awesome! Thanks Brad!
