An international trailer for Let Me In, the Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) directed remake of Let the Right One In, which in itself was an adaptation of John Ajvide Lindqvist's best-selling Swedish novel has arrived online giving questioning fans a first look at the film many of them seem to have been skeptical of since they first heard there would be an American adaptation.

The film stars Kodi Smit-McPhee and Chloe Moretz and centers on Owen (Smit-McPhee), an alienated 12-year-old boy who befriends Abby (Moretz), a mysterious young newcomer in his small New Mexico town and discovers an unconventional path to adulthood. I don't want to say anymore for those of you that either haven't read the book or seen the original film, but I am sure the trailer gives more away… I'd be able to tell you for myself, but I didn't watch it.

Overture Films is currently set to release Let Me In on October 1, you can watch the trailer directly below and get additional information and a look at the first two images from the film in the RopeofSilicon gallery right here.

~i can't believe they changed the name wah wah wah~

In all seriousness, the trailer looks faithful to the original though a tad darker in colour palette. Let the Right One In was very, very white on the screen and looked beautiful (which is hard to do). Let Me In appears to have more of a 'tint' to it.

there were so many similar shots in this trailer as in the original movie it just all doesnt look as pretty-but the cast gives me hope

  3. I liked the song… whoever that is.

    STOP WITH THE REMAKES!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Tina

Its funny that girl is scarier than the whole cast of Twilight! Im in.

The music doesn't work in that trailer for me but on the basis of the trailer it looks relatively faithful overall.

I don't understand the need for the name change either and I agree with the comment it looks more tinted than the purer light tones of the original.

But they shouldn't have had the reveal midway through I think.

Trailers nowadays seem to give away too much. That's why I don't watch them anymore that often. At least if I don't know the story beforehand. This story I do know and I did watch the trailer and liked it. I'm sure Chloe Moretz will be great. It has a good feel to it, kind of menacing and scary. I really liked the morse code at the end.

I want to like the remake – the novel and Swedish film are both awesome – but I'm not convinced by this trailer. As a film programmer I showed the original in my venue. I won't be showing this version.

I mean the beauty of the original film is the realistic look and performance, very low key and subtle. This one is just too artificial…just another hollywood production. OMG, too much hollywood these days!

I have been dreading this remake since it was first announced. I've said this before, but it looks like a shot for shot remake of the original.

    Boring.

I actually think this trailer is pretty damn good.

I haven't seen the original film, but I've read the book and I thought the trailer looked pretty awesome. I actually thought it looked less "Hollywood" than most movies do. Just my opinion, though.

The only thing that seems to be standout in this trailer is Chloe Grace Moretz. The original film is one of my favourite foreign language films, and i've pissed off so many people telling them that the Eli is scarier than everything in that so called vampire series. I really hope that Matt Reeves can at least hold up to Alfredson's original adaption, and not have it turn out like Gus Van Sant's Psycho… The only nightmares i got from that was the horrible thought more Hitchcock remakes would get made.

  14. I was (and still am) really skeptical about this (I loved the original), and am not sure if Matt Reeves is up to the task. But this has helped quiet my fears some, and Kodi Smit-McPhee looks perfect!

Weak Sauce. If it isn't broken, Don't Fix it.

Okay, so I have to admit that the pedigree looks fantastic: Chloe Moretz and Kodi Smit-McPhee starring? You couldn't have picked two better kid actors if you tried, and if anyone's going to match the actors in the original movie, it'll be them. Also, Matt Reeves directing–it's not like he's A-list or anything, but the director "Cloverfield" is worlds and worlds better than what the other horror movie remakes get.

BUT… Oh my GOD, they shouldn't have changed the fucking name! Please excuse my language, but I really needed it there: "Let the Right One In" is one of the best titles of all time! I love that title so much that I'd say I even loved it more than the actual film itself (which I'd probably give around a B). To change it is SUCH a travesty. I am SO. BOILING. MAD. over it. Still!
