Ice Cube Gets Funny on 'First Sunday'
New comedy for the funny Cube?
What up Ice Cube? Was xXx 2 so bad they won't give you anything but comedies from now on? Apparently Cube is set for yet another laffer as Screen Gems tapped him to star in First Sunday for debut director David E. Talbert.
Talbert, best known as a playwright, penned the script which casts Cube as one of two men who bungle an attempt to heist money from a church. They wind up taking its parishioners hostage, and those churchgoers slowly convert the robbers to see the error of their ways.Filming will begin May 14 in Los Angeles and Baltimore, with pic to be released to coincide with the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend.
I guess Cube's career is all summed up when Variety says:
Movie returns Ice Cube to the arena in which he's found the most film success: making modestly budgeted pics with urban appeal.
Cube, at least Friday was a funny comedy, give your fans what they want!
