'Hoot' for New Line and Walden
Children's novel getting feature treatment.
New Line Cinema and Walden Media have made a pact to bring Carl Hiaasen's children's novel, "Hoot," to the big screen with Frank Marshall on to produce.
With the news it was also announced that Jimmy Buffett will write original music for the pic and will serve as an executive producer with Wil Shriner on to direct.
The story follows a boy in Florida who encounters a series of mysteries while trying to save a group of endangered owls.
Production is set to start in June. New Line will handle worldwide distribution.
