Hogzilla!!!!
Get ready to get hog wild all over again
Hogzilla. Say it with me. Hog-freaking-zilla! This is the name given to an 8-foot, 800 pound wild boar that was found and (naturally) shot and killed back in 2004 in Alapaha, Georgia. Local legend of the famed beast spread like wildfire from the southern most end of Alapaha to the most northern. Why, I hear some folk out in west Alapaha still talk about that darn beast even today. And now the legend has made its way onto the world wide web and you wanna know why? You got it … it's movie time!
An independent film producer by the name of Rick Trimm is bringing Hogzilla to the big screen and he's already hired Chris Griffin, the soulless bastard slayer of the great beast, onboard. The town of Alapaha is so proud of it's pig it's held a parade in its honor. If that isn't a pure slice of Americana I don't know what is. Shoot first, appreciation and parade after. Like the Native Americans.
This is my favorite quote from the Yahoo story:
"We don't need professional actors," Trimm said. "We need real people who are interested in the movie."
Uh, don't worry "Trimm". I don't think Sean Penn's agent will be calling any time soon. Yeah, it's probably a good thing you're not looking for "professional actors".
I checked out the old Wikipedia and it looks like a rival to Hogzilla was found (and don't you worry … shot and killed) in Fayetteville, Georgia which Wikipedia also tells me is part of the United States. Not to be outdone, the Fayetteville hog is said to have weighed in at 1,100 pounds. I smell a sequel already.
