'Hobo with a Shotgun' Teaser Trailer Released at the Right Time
'Machete's release makes this an excellent time for this...
This weekend sees the release of Machete, the first film based on the fake trailers seen between Planet Terror and Death Proof, the two films that made up Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino's 2007 double-feature flop Grindhouse. Machete has received largely positive reviews and I have to agree, it's a very fun film and had Rodriguez used it instead of Planet Terror as his half of Grindhouse the film may have done a bit better at the box-office. Hell, tracking on Machete should have it doing Grindhouse business in about a week's time.
So, with the anticipated success of Machete on the horizon it's only appropriate the first teaser trailer for another film based on a Grindhouse faux trailer arrive in the form of Jason Eisener's Hobo with a Shotgun courtesy of Ain't It Cool News.
Just above I included the version of the trailer that accompanied Grindhouse and just below is the new version.
Should Machete perform well I expect we'll see Hobo with a Shotgun find some kind of distribution and wouldn't be surprised if Eli Roth is finally able to get Thanksgiving off the ground. Thanksgiving is yet one other faux Grindhouse trailer looking for a big screen adaptation. Last word on that project was Roth was working on a script with co-writer Jeff Rendell.
At the moment Hobo with a Shotgun doesn't have a release date or a distributor, but that could all change should the Internet ring loud enough.
Hobo with a Shotgun helmer Jason Eisener is a new face on the scene and prior to this he directed the short Treevenge, which centers on a bunch of Christmas Trees coming back for revenge on the people that chopped them down. I included that short just below the new trailer. Have a ball…

Hobo with a Shotgun, lord help me, looks like it might actually be a bit of fun to watch. Rutger Hauer is a pretty inspired choice if you ask me and it just seems like it has all the makings of a "good" B Movie.
I'd like to see Roth get "Thanksgiving" rolling (the trailer for it was probably my favorite part of the Grindhouse experience) but right now I'm looking forward to "Hobo".
Looks fantastic. Can't wait to see this or Machete. Though I didn't see the original trailer in Grindhouse. I only saw Machete, Werewolf Women Of The SS, Thanksgiving And Don't!. Was this trailer after Death Proof or something? Well regardless it looks like a bloody good time and Rutger Hauer as The Hobo IS perfect casting.
