'Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug', 'Wolf of Wall Street' and 'American Hustle' in Today's MPAA Ratings

MPAA Ratings for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, American Hustle, Ernest & Celestine, Heaven is for Real, Million Dollar Arm, The Wolf of Wall Street
Latest MPAA Ratings: BULLETIN NO: 2300

Today's MPAA ratings bulletin offers up a trio of highly anticipated December releases, however, the ratings for each aren't exactly surprising.

David O. Russell's American Hustle and Martin Scorsese's The Wolf of Wall Street earned the obvious R ratings while Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug comes away with the expected PG-13.

The possible animated awards contender from GKIDS, Ernest & Celestine, comes away with a PG as it was recently announced it will have a limited New York and Los Angeles release next March, where it hopes to use an Oscar nomination to help sell some tickets.

Then come the 2014 releases with Heaven is for Real starring Greg Kinnear and Million Dollar Arm, the Disney feature starring Jon Hamm, Bill Paxton and Lake Bell.

Ooh "suggestive" content for Million Dollar Arm. What exactly are they suggesting?

"For EXTENDED sequences of 'intense' fantasy action violence". Oh great here we go again with another dragged out hobbit film. #feelingthefeels

    The Hungover Games? Really?

      My exact sentiment!

For nearly a decade as ago, Fox released THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST which got an R rating for "sequences of graphic violence" including the crucifixion of Christ. And as then, Fox releases THE SON OF GOD which gets a PG-13 rating with a mention of a crucifixion being as intensely and bloodily depicted. I am as curious of how the crucifixion is as for the film's PG-13 rating. I mean, does anyone notice the MPAA tends being as more strict with the PG-13 rating?

OMG. So excited for Town That Dreaded Sundown and even more excited it has earned an R rating. Wasn't expecting it to be done filming so quickly; had no idea it was already filmed. Love how the creative team behind American Horror Story is involved!

American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street went pretty much as expected. And I have to say, The Hungover Games is a pretty amusing title.

I didn't expect The Wolf of Wall Street to be so hard on its nudity and sexual content. From the trailer I thought it might have some harsher violence.
