Emotional, uncomfortable, absur, chaotic and controversial

A Nebraska teen gets much more than she bargained for when she sets out for the bright lights of the big city in Hick and Phase 4 Films has released both the red band and green band trailers for the upcoming limited and video on demand release starring Blake Lively, Chloe Moretz, Alec Baldwin, Juliette Lewis, Eddie Redmayne and Rory Culkin.

Based on the novel by Andrea Portes and directed by Derek Martini, the film centers on Luli (Moretz), a small town teenager who runs away from her abusive parents to Las Vegas armed with a pistol and some pocket money. On her way west she crosses paths with Eddie (Redmayne), an unstable rebel with questionable motives and Glenda (Lively), a cocaine-snorting drifter on the run.

The film hits limited theaters on May 11 and will be On Demand at the same time. I've included both the red band and green band trailers directly below. Take you pick and let me know what you think. Personally, just using the words emotional, uncomfortable, absurd, chaotic and controversial give off that sense of trying too hard because the trailer doesn't seem anywhere near as radical as that combination of adjectives implies.

Chloe Moretz deserves an Oscar nomination! Seriously, by far every performance of her in a movie was moving and well done! Kick-Ass, Let Me In, Texas Killing Fields, Hugo! If the Academy (Oscars) won't consider her for this role (in Hick) I will never look at the Oscars seriously! Hailee Steinfeld already got an Oscar nomination in her first (good) role but for Chloe Moretz there's no consideration in 4 amazing roles! Ridiculous! She's a talented young actress and in my opinion very underrated!

But you have got to admit she is a great young actress! It's so unfair! She shows depth in her roles and always has a character where the audience will care about! That is really something rare to see! She is brilliant with every script she's being handed! I'm really rooting for this girl! She never lets me down when it comes to pulling off a terrific performance but maybe it's the choices she makes.

Chloe Moretz, i'm in. Kick-Ass may have been her breakout role but i've liked her since Big Momma's House 2. She's a future Oscar-winner. Excellent young actress, one of the best out there along with the Fanning sisters, Saoirse Ronan, AnnaSophia Robb, Bailee Madison & Abigail Breslin.

On her potentially or potentially not getting an Oscar nod for this, I praised for her for her impressive performance in Kick-Ass. This role seems a little bit similar to Kick-Ass jjudging by the trailer, it reminded just a little bit of her role in Kick-Ass. All that said, will she possibly get an Oscar nod for this? Well, this is just a trailer so we can't just judge until we see the movie itself but judging by the trailer, I don't see it but potentially, maybe yes. Just can't take Oscars seriously anymore these days.

But like I said she's a future Oscar winner, she's very pretty, has great screen presence, can do different accents so well (Oscars love that) and just extremely talented.

OMG BRAD! I saw it and neither of these trailers even touch the reality that is this film. It is all of those adjectives and gets very UGLY. Better words to describe this movie: EMOTIONALLY ABUSIVE. SOUL CORRUPTING. CRUEL.

And I hate myself for this but....I actually liked it.

      • For An Angel says:

The only difference is that the green band doesn't show her holding the gun. The red band shows her holding a gun twice, in the beginning when she asks 'do you think I'm pretty' and at the very end when she's got the dark hair.

  4. Kyle says:

Yeah, there's nothing "red-band" about that first trailer. Also, she seems to be playing a character that is only slightly more animated than her Texas Killing Fields character (which was also an extremely underwhelming movie, as this looks to be).
