Hard Not to Enjoy Parachuting Tanks from 'The A-Team'

This is only the logical next step considering the situation

Hopefully this clip from The A-Team isn't the greatest, most outlandish moment in the film because Fox has ruined it in every single trailer and has now provided the entire clip online. Personally I think this is an amazing bit of entertainment, and proves to be a deviation from the recent Hollywood idea everything needs to be ultra-gritty and realistic, a trend I hope dies out very soon.

Well, director Joe Carnahan has certainly dropped the reality aspect and Bradley Cooper seems to be enjoying himself. Here's a clip from The A-Team which opens on June 11. You can click here for more, including a couple of trailers and the RopeofSilicon gallery of 22 images, which includes one brand new image.

  1. I wasn't looking forward to this at all, but it is steadily growing on me as the release date nears. I'll probably see it at the drive-in if it is playing with something else I want to see.

That was fun… I especially enjoyed the B.A. and Murdock moment. I certainly don't recall Face being so gung-ho action crazy in the series… bit of a departure there. Well, that and the fact that the action doesn't look like a backlot studio stunt show.

I love movies that have some crazy fun and don't try overly hard to make outlandish premises "realistic". Of course, it still needs to hold together as a narrative. Stuff like "Transformers" is horrible because it falls apart at the most basic levels of storytelling.

I suppose everyone draws their own line between "fun" and "stupid", though. One person's parachuting tank could be another person's nuked refrigerator.

On a side note, I so do not recognize Sharlto Copley as Murdock. Admittedly, I've only ever seen him as Wikus in "District 9", but I keep thinking I should have some spark of recognition looking at him playing Murdock.

  4. The first time this came up in the trailer, I immediately was baffled by why a movie this big would steal something like this right out of Charlie's Angles: Full Throttle. It was ridiculous in Angels, and it looks even more retarded now.

And while I can't really say that I'm completely for the "ultra-gritty and realistic trend", the unrealistic stuff has its boundaries. There's clips like these that go overboard, and then moments like from Live Free or Die Hard (cop car taking out helicopter, semi-truck taking on jet, jumping off said jet to safety) that aren't really feasible, but the movie still makes them work.

While I was seriously doubting this movie from the get-go, this video only helps me in thinking that I'm not going to waste a theatre ticket on it.

Red, consider the possibilities that the cargo on a plane, if not destroyed has to fall. If said cargo is meant for field deployment. Why wouldn't it have parachutes? Unlike Charlie's Angels which asked you to believe that a free falling helicopter could start in mid-air an reach escape velocity and take flight.

It really is easy to believe that you can use the guns on a parachuting tank.

I just hope like Brad that the Brain Surgeons at the studio haven't once again put the best gag in previews.

God, I am not seeing this. It is just way to campy for my taste. 'WHAT YOU GOT?!!!!!!" HAHAHA

This looks like Charlie's Angles, just McG and the ladies did it much better,

  7. Ugh, I hate saying this, but I did laugh at that joke at the end. Im still having a hard time choosing whether or not to go see this. Neeson is a great actor (though hes been working alot since his wife died, and not all of them have been great movies) and Carnahan directed Smokin Aces which I love to death. But this movie just feels too silly.

The effects are way better than anything we saw in G.I. Joe…

"Bradley Cooper seems to be enjoying himself."

You mean, the CGI Bradley Cooper seems to be enjoying himself.

    OMG YES!
I may have found my favourite summer movie clip already

I think you have to remember how silly The A-Team itself was week in and week out and I think you've got to have some of that in this film or it misses the some of the point of The A-Team.

Anyway, now that IM2 has disappointed me I'm hoping this is a good dollop of crazy fun. Trailer is great, looks like it's actually managed to get a bit of the series style in it but twisted for 2010!

Though I agree with A.J that one person's 'fun' and another's 'dumb' can be interchangeable!
