Halle Berry Contemplates Becoming a 'Surrogate'

Generic thriller attracts the MIA actress

Looking over Halle Berry's career I think she has only impressed me twice. I loved her in Bulworth and thought she deserved Oscar consideration for her performance in Things We Lost in the Fire. I did not like Monster's Ball at all and would have never considered her performance Oscar-worthy, but she was up against a lackluster field that year so I can't complain too much although I would have certainly given the golden knight to Zellweger, Kidman or Spacek before Berry.

All that said, it appears she isn't reaching too high yet again as Variety reports she is now in talks to star in the recently announced thriller The Surrogate for 20th Century Fox and director Paul Verhoeven.

The generic thriller revolves around a couple who hire a surrogate to carry their child and find out mid-term the surrogate is insane. It isn't specified what role Berry will be playing, but I am inclined to believe she will be playing the crazed surrogate, and in that case I have pretty much already lost all interest in this one.

Rod and Bruce Taylor penned the screenplay based on a novel by Kathryn Mackel.

I never liked Halle Berry, I was scarrd after Catwoman.

I liked her in Losing Isaiah but haven't been impressed since. I have a feeling Halle will be playing the wife, although she might try to be "edgy" and play the surrogate.

Halle Berry has been riding easy street since that faithful night she was the first black actress to win the Oscar for best female lead. Since then I would say Berry has fell into the same pothole Cuba Gooding Jr. fell into [but not as drastic]. Once a person "PEEKS" in their field what is left to do? Cuba found out the hard way. The correct answer to that question is to continue with your career and to not let the hype [whether deserved or not] allow you to think "I'm above soooo many things now…"

Grant it Berry did continue on with her career but with movies that most likely available to her before she even received the Oscar [minus Die Another Day, that one she can thank the academy for]. As of late I have lost all faith in this women and truly believe she will not release anything noteworthy ever again. Brad I did not see "things we lost in the fire" but that will most likely be the last of the latest Halle Berry movies I will watch.

    R.I.P.
