Guy Ritchie To Write and Direct Sherlock Holmes Pic

COMMENT

This must mean 'RocknRolla' is pretty good

I have to assume based on the fact that Warner Bros. has now hired Guy Ritchie to write and direct a reimagining of super sleuth Sherlock Holmes that his upcoming release RocknRolla must be pretty good. I only guess this based on the fact that I have heard RocknRolla may end up being a trilogy and considering Ritchie's recent films (Revolver and Swept Away) were not very good and RocknRolla may be a return to Ritchie's Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels form.

Word now is that Ritchie's Sherlock will take its cues from a forthcoming comic that Lionel Wigram wrote as a selling tool for a new take on the classic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle character. The concept sees the character be more adventuresome and less stuffy than previous screen incarnations and mines on more obscure character traits.

The article mentions that Neil Marshall was once on board to direct with Michael Johnson set to write. Ritchie will be polishing the script Johnson turned in.

One final note from the Hollywood Reporter story is a comment saying Warners is said to be "high" on RocknRolla, which reiterates my speculation above and is actually quite good news for fans of both Snatch and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels.

Lock, stock and Snatch were great. RocknRolla does the same trick by the sound of it: typical Brittish humor with Brittish gangster. But in the other two it worked so why not.
Haven't seen Revolver or Swept Away yet and I'll probably stay away from the last one.
A rom-com by Ritchie starring Demona…..sorry Madonna, no thank you.

I'm not sure if he's the righ choice for a Sherlock film but maybe he'll be closer to the character created by Doyle, so including the drug induced visions and stuff.
The things that all the other, made for TV, films stayed away from.
