Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for the boxing comedy Grudge Match, which brings together two acting legends in Sylverster Stallone and Robert De Niro and will obvious trade on their past film roles as Rocky Balboa in the Rocky franchise and Jake La Motta in Raging Bull. The difference, of course, being this is a comedy and not a drama as these two play aging boxing rivals coaxed out of retirement to fight one final bout -- 50 years after their last match.

Along with Stallone and De Niro the film co-stars Kevin Hart, Alan Arkin and Kim Basinger and is directed by Peter Segal (Get Smart). The film arrives in theaters on Christmas Day.

Doesn't look half bad. Could be really fun.

  • Ron Oneal Fresh

It looks funny, amusing is probably a better word. It looks decent. Dare I say.

  • Hudsucker

It looks somewhat amusing. Also it felt really meta when someone told De Niro's character that "Everyone needs to know when it's time to step off the stage."

  • Ryguy815

It looks decent. That last joke really made me laugh though. I might see it.

This movie is like an analogy for the two star's careers. The "it's the best we got" sums it right up.

    • Andrew J.S.

At least Stallone still seems to be trying. DeNiro just walks through every movie.

      • AmericanNoir

Trying what? To have fun? I can see that.

I love Kevin Hart. He is absolutely hilarious. Other than that no interest in this film.

    • Ugueth

Kevin Hart is the worst comedian working right now. He was the worst part of this trailer.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with the UK comedy scene but can i just suggest either Sarah Millican or Michael McIntyre as the world's worst comedian? They make Kevin Hart look thigh-slappingly amazing in comparison. Our comedy scene sucks at the moment.

        • andyluvsfilms

Hell yeah McIntyre is way worse.

          • Hudsucker

I liked McIntyre on his Top Gear UK interview.

On paper this movie sounded like ass, but the tone of the movie shown in the trailer looks perfect (minus Kevin Hart) and it didn't look like pure "I'm too old for this shit, hahaha" humor.

  • andyluvsfilms

It looks worse than what i was expecting and i didnt quite get if it was trying to be a broad comedy or a drama. I also expect the best bits to be those from the supporting characters.

  • Bazellis

    This looks fantastic!!

  • maja

My word..just when I think I couldn't lose any more respect for De Niro...

As long as it doesn't take itself too seriously I think it could be enjoyable. I liked the joke about punching meat. There will probably be a lot of self referential jokes which I think will work. Plus Arkin and Hart are always great supporting players.

    • andyluvsfilms

The punching meat scene was definitely the highlight.

  • Corbin

    That looks fine.

Looked better than I expected but still not going to be rushing out to see it.
