Grazer Producing 'Colossus' Remake
Ron Howard might direct
I am tired of hearing about how directors "might" direct a film, especially when they have so many films lined up already. For Ron Howard one of those films is Angels & Demons, but as his production partner Brian Grazer and Imagine Entertainment have picked up the remake rights tot he 1970 sci-fi saga Colossus: The Forbin Project Howard's name is in the mix to direct.
The original feature is based on a book by D.F. Jones and begins after a brainiac designs a supercomputer for the government as a means of protection, the computer decides itself that the most effective way it can act as protector is to assume complete control.
I have never seen the original, but it reminds me of the Robby the Robot feature from 1957 called The Invisible Boy in which Robby and a 10-year-old boy team up to prevent a Super Computer from controlling the Earth from a satellite.
Variety mentions that Colossus was a forerunner for films like Terminator.
Jason Rothenberg has been set to write the screenplay for the remake, which will drop the subtitle and be called Colossus.

That's Fantastic! I saw the original and love it to this day. It is a bit dated of course, but that is one movie I would love but also never thought would be remade as it was largely overlooked back then.
Eric Braeden was superb!
